Summary: A COMPANY has been fined $55,000 after a worker suffered severe chemical burns to 20 per cent of his body at a mine in Western Australia.....

Murrin Murrin Operations was fined in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Wednesday following the July 2015 incident at its cobalt-nickel operations in WA’s Goldfields region.

The worker was making safety preparations for maintenance on a Treloar arm, which is used to unload liquid anhydrous ammonia, when the hose ruptured, causing a vapour to form and engulf him.
