Reporting to the Project Manager, The HV Electrician is responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out electrical tasks as assigned by the site supervisor. To work collaboratively in a team environment following Downer policies and procedures to ensure all tasks are performed and completed to the highest standard.


Education and Qualifications: Must hold the following Qualifications and Licenses:

ElectraNet Licenses: Advanced (Level 3) Asset Access (Safety Observer)

Other qualifications should include:

  • Trade qualified electrician and the following licenses
  • A Class Electrician (SA)
  • Working at heights
  • Telehandler/Forklift
  • EWP
  • Confined space
  • HV Cable Jointing
  • First Aid
  • CPR / LV Rescue
  • Experience working in maintenance and construction of high voltage power stations and/or substations essential.
  • Experience working in the renewables sector is desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge in high voltage plant maintenance and construction practices.
  • Ability to work in a team working environment and assist in maintaining productivity and efficiency.
  • Locate and repair defects in electrical systems.
  • Construct HV electrical systems and structures.
  • Review accuracy of work reports e.g. ITPs, ITC, Drawing mark ups.
  • Read and work from drawings and specifications, and use graphic instruction such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids
  • Comply with all electrical codes
  • Work under pressure to handle significant problems and tasks which come up simultaneously and/or unexpectedly
  • Exercise independent initiative and judgment in accordance with accepted practices
