About the role

We currently have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join the Vianet team in Chatswood. This role is a key part of a team developing products and solutions that help Ventia customers leverage LPWA technologies.

The purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for the electronics and RF functionality of Vianet devices from design through to manufacturing and field performance. This is a hands-on hardware development role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Vianet team on the overall design of new products
  • Design of electronic and RF circuits for Vianet products
  • Design and layout of PCBs
  • Coordinating development of product prototypes
  • Working with contract manufacturers to resolve issues and improve product performance and/or cost
  • Managing overall cost of hardware build and manage trade-offs
  • Supporting the design and build of programming and test fixtures.
  • Appropriate documentation for every stage of work

About you

To be successful in this role you will hold a degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or a related field. You will be an exceptional communicator, both verbal and written, and be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Digital & analogue circuit design ability
  • PCB design capability with exposure to RF layout techniques and impedance matching
  • Working knowledge of schematics and PCB layout design software packages
  • Good problem solving and hardware debugging capabilities
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++ is nice to have
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers, preferably with ARM based microcontrollers and IDEs
  • Experience in optimizing design for extremely long battery life
  • Experience in designing cost effective products for high volume manufacturing
  • Experience in RF design and testing preferred
  • 5+ years experience in hardware design preferably in developing new commercial products
  • Experience in or exposure to the design, development and debugging of production test jigs and production test procedures
  • Experience in automation of hardware testing processes preferably using Python
