Job Description

This can only be made possible with great people and the right organisational structure. A high level review of our organisational structure has recently been undertaken, identifying the requirement for a highly talented and experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the team.

Reporting to our Senior Controls Engineer and working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be integral in helping to drive the department forward. They will be providing control system design, development, installation and maintenance of equipment which is used to monitor and control Processing Facilities within the management and control of the Operations Department. 

Based in Perth with site based requirements, this new role will require an effective communicator who is both strategic and hands-on and can engage effectively with individuals and teams across a diverse organisation.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Maintaining effectiveness of the process control systems at our existing mine operations including PLC, HMI, Historian and alarm systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair system problems.
• Evaluate equipment and processes to identify ways to optimise performance.
• Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems.
• Analysing data and presenting findings in written reports.
• Working collaboratively with all internal staff and external clients.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving, providing advice and consultancy support.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance through new use of process control technologies.
• Develop and maintain effective Safe Work Procedures for the control systems and associated equipment maintenance.
• Assist in the organisation, planning, preparation and execution of plant shut downs where required.

Key Skills Required:
• Tertiary Qualification in Electrical, Control or Mechatronic Engineering (or similar) or Relevant Trade Qualification.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience demonstrated process control engineering experience within the minerals processing industry including dry and wet fixed plant environment with strong knowledge in PLC and HMI systems, Instrumentation Hardware and Network Communications.
• Strong GE PLC programming experience. 
• Knowledge of CitectSCADA, GE Cimplicity SCADA, Cisco switches and Profinet/Profibus would be advantageous.
• Sound electrical knowledge or Trade background.
• Ability to work in remote locations as and when required. 
• Excellent communication skills.
