Job Description

The Opportunity:

To maintain the Rio Tinto Railways Division Train Control Signalling System and related communications to support the efficient operation of the railway and monitoring of its assets in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements. These positions are ongoing on a 8/6:7/7 roster.

• Efficiently carry out planned maintenance and inspections of train control signalling and associated communications to provide safe and reliable operation of the railway.
• Identify faults and undesirable conditions/hazards, prioritise and implement short and long term solutions.
• Assist with the development and implementation of improvement projects and propose improvements to maintenance processes, including the proactive use of diagnostic tools to support predictive maintenance activities.
• Attend and rectify faults in a timely manner to minimise production delays.
• Manage the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered by external contractors.
• Communicate regularly with key stakeholders including Train Control, Rail operations, RSM and Engineering Support regarding the signalling system performance.

Candidates must have the following:
• A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence (Minimum)
• A Grade WA Electrical licence
• A relevant trade qualification
• Certificate IV in Electrical Rail Signalling
• Minimum two years systems maintenance experience

Experience with Rail is a must – Track and or rolling stock is most desired.
