Job Description

UGL Unipart Rail Services Pty Ltd was founded in December 2011 as a Joint Venture between UGL (Australia) and Unipart Rail (UK). UGL Unipart JV is headquartered in Auburn, NSW on a 17 hectare site at the geographical centre of Sydney.

We are seeking a Systems Technician aka Senior Technical Specialist for our rail division based in Auburn, NSW. This position is responsible for carrying out, testing, and troubleshooting of complex Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical systems and equipment as part of the Tangara Technology Upgrade Project. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all testing and rectification is carried out to a high standard,
  • Use expertise to contribute to continuous improvements as well as mentoring trades people on the project,
  • Advise Build Delivery Manager or Test and Commissioning Manager of problems and provide suggested solutions,
  • Ensure the economical use of materials and resources in the timely and safe completion of work,
  • Ensure that documentation such as job cards, record cards, databases, test sheets, figures, MJI's & Integrated work Instructions (IWI) are completed maintained and accurate.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience in the Railway Maintenance industry with experience on Tangara and on Trains such as Waratah/Millennium/Oscar (desirable);
  • RISI / RSW Accreditation (desirable);
  • Have an Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Qualification;
  • Previous experience working with Optical Fibre Installations or repairs;
  • Previous exposure to a Test and Commissioning environment.
